Glance vs Cover-1
Cover-1 turns the glance into a 1-on-1 matchup. Slot leverage decides everything.
Cover-1 puts a nickel or LB on the slot in man. The glance becomes a slot-vs-DB matchup. The post safety helps over the top, but the throw window opens 4-6 yards underneath.
From the offense
Pick the slot's release and stem his route inside-out. A two-step vertical release pulls the man defender deep — then the break inside opens at 6-8 yards.
If the defender plays inside leverage to take away the glance, audible to a back-shoulder or out-and-up tag. Cover-1 punishes you for being predictable.
From the defense
Cover-1 vs. glance is about the underneath man defender's leverage. Inside leverage takes away the route; outside leverage forces it. The robber helps when he sits in the throwing lane — but a lurking robber gives away the call.
