Bubble Screen vs Cover-1
Bubble screen vs Cover-1 is dead — the corner is in man on the outside WR and won't help on the bubble. What to call instead.
The bubble screen dies vs. cover-1. The corner is in man on the outside WR — he's not the flat defender anymore. The bubble has no one to block, and the slot catches the ball with a defender in his face.
From the offense
Audible. If you see cover-1 pre-snap, get out of the bubble call. A slant or stick from the slot is a 1-on-1 matchup with a nickel — much better odds.
If you have to throw the bubble, tag a deep route on the same side to hold the safety. That at least gives the slot a step.
From the defense
Cover-1 takes away the bubble structurally. Just play sound man and the route is dead.
The risk is that the offense audibles to a slant or pick concept. Be ready with a robber adjustment so a defender is lurking in the throwing lane.
